John J Hanley

We don’t know much about John J Hanley.

Except that he obtained a patent in 1934 for “maintaining unfailing and uninterruptible power supplies of electrical energy”.

His application shows an automatic switching of equipments to a battery incase if the main power supply fails. The battery gets charged when the normal power supply return back.

Today, the UPS systems are very mandatory for the Data Center usage. All critical equipments are connected through the Uninterrupted power supply systems (UPS)

The UPS needs to have complete redundancy either as N+N or N+1 for the Data Center usage.

Some customers demands for 1 hour or higher time battery backup for the Data center components.

We recommend 30 Minutes of backup for each UPS system in the Data Center.

If the backup generator power source is not available for more than 15 Minutes inside the Data Center , the temperature rises inside and will lead to the equipment failure.
