The cooling units are closely coupled with the racks. The AC units take air directly from the hot aisle before the hot air rises and mixes. After passing through the cooling machine, the air again travels back to the racks for equipment cooling.
The in-row cooling is energy efficient and gives better reliability and serviceability.
Another advantage of this solution is that it saves a lot of space inside the server room.

Since the hot air exchange is happening throughout the rack space, it doesn’t require raised floor system for cooling.
